These events, marking their 80th anniversaries, are set to take place on May 8 and August 15, respectively, signifying crucial moments in World War II and its aftermath.

The RBLS has submitted a grant funding request of £1,260 to the Dalbeattie Common Good Fund for a total projected cost of £2,260. This funding is crucial; it not only supports a historical observance but also fosters community engagement and remembrance. According to their grant application, these events will include solemn memorial services at the war memorial in Colliston Park, featuring various dignitaries including the Lord Lieutenant, youth organizations, and military vehicles.

A buffet is planned at the local day centre for invited guests, and entertainment in the style of WWII culture has been organized.
