The Project Search initiative in Dumfries and Galloway is making substantial strides in supporting young individuals with additional needs as they transition into the workforce. Coordinated by the Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Employability and Skills Service in partnership with local colleges and businesses, this project has proven to be a vital pathway to employment.
Positive Outcomes and Celebrations
Remarkably, 77% of participants achieved favorable employment outcomes during the 2022/23 academic year. This success is not only recognized in statistics but celebrated in a recent gala, where the project received an award that will become a symbol of inspiration at The Bridge in Dumfries. Intern Jamie Jardine, who secured a position at Marchbank’s Bakers, highlighted the program’s significance in boosting confidence and providing valuable social skills essential in the workplace.

Gillian Brydson, executive director of education, skills, and community wellbeing, emphasized the extraordinary talent among the young participants.
